It's been one hell of a last two years with Covid...These islands closed down for a YEAR and a HALF and it was devastating to the Economy here and to the Service industry...Over a span of the last 2 years Hawaii lost around 1,600 Great Businesses to the Pandemic. Many tour companies CLOSED and never opened again, BUT NOT US...
TOURISM IN HAWAII HAS RE-OPENED, BUT AT THE SAME TIME HAS BECOME MORE EXPENSIVE!
If you go back and re-read our last Blog Post "PANDEMIC in PARADISE" two years ago
everything we discussed HAS COME TO PASS! We wish we could say otherwise however, limiting low-quality tourism is in FULL SWING. Instead of allowing an uncontrolled amount of 30-50K tourists in a month to Hawaii who will use Hawaii for several weeks and then leave it in worse shape than when they came, the state has already raised prices enough to push those people out of Hawaii's tourism industry, allowing only 15-20K high quality tourists in a month.
The Pandemic, High Inflation, High Fuel costs, the War and the basic Cost of Living has only compounded the problem making Travel even more expensive in general. So, bringing in the High End Travelers at this time allows those Travelers to spend higher amounts of money and within local communities, as well as donate and support local Nonprofits and infrastructure to ensure the sustainability of the tourism business for Hawaii's future. Hawaii has also stopped VBRO's and AIRBNB's on OAHU outside the Tourist districts...essentially meaning anywhere outside WAIKIKI except for a few Grandfathered in Bed & Breakfasts are active now!

Here at Hawaii Jeep & Specialty Tours we weathered the Pandemic storm, and we are back doing what we do best...Showing Travelers our island home!
Like other businesses around the world we are all dealing with todays cost of living and the volatility of the economy. Unfortunately, Hawaii has seen the highest cost of living adjustments in the country! For us to remain a profitable small family owned business, like most companies in Hawaii, we needed to adjust our prices as well! Although our prices have gone up, the costs are far less than many other businesses. To remain competitive in the PRIVATE TOUR industry this was the only choice we had. Small personal and private tours are very expensive to run as we only take anywhere from 2 people in a single Jeep, all the way up to 3 Jeeps with 12 people.

The future will be based on QUALITY not QUANTITY, and those in the industry as well as those who intend on traveling here need to either embrace that or be left behind in the new future of Traveling to Hawaii.
2023 WILL BE A TRANSITIONAL YEAR...
For all of us...2023 will HOPEFULLY be the year we leave Covid behind for good...
We are grateful to still be in business and to service all our great friends and family who have gone on tour with us in the past and are finally returning! 2023 will also be a year of Renewal and making new friends who chose to go on tour with us...We can't wait to meet you in the NEW HAWAII that awaits!
For the Transitional year of 2023 our BOOKING PAGE and CALENDAR will remain closed as we are selling out 30-40 DAYS IN ADVANCE and we still need to grow the business to what it was before Covid. We are only HALF THE SIZE we had been, but purchasing NEW JEEPS are not in the cards right now as they are going for 30-40% OVER MSRP in Hawaii and we need the Prices to return to some form of normalcy again before we invest on growing the business...The WORLD is just too volatile at this time and we can't afford to take anymore risks. We weathered this Storm well and when the time is right we will do what is needed for our business and our guests!
